High-Precision Knife-Over-Roll Coating Line for XPS Board Surface Leveling
This customizable XPS board knife coating line is specifically engineered for applying uniform, precise layers of cementitious mortars, polymer-modified coatings, acrylic renders, primers, or adhesives onto XPS (extruded polystyrene) rigid foam boards. Available in high-precision leveling, stucco-ready mortar, and industrial continuous production configurations.
Unlike spray or roller coating, the knife-over-roll method achieves >95% transfer efficiency with minimal material waste, eliminating overspray—this is especially critical for XPS substrates, which are sensitive to solvent attack. Excess high-viscosity coating is recirculated back to the supply tank, delivering 35-45% material savings compared to spraying.
The system is fully customizable in coating width, thickness range, blade type, board thickness accommodation (3-200mm), and XPS density handling (25-50kg/m³).
Working principle: XPS boards are fed through a precision backing roller, where a doctor blade (comma blade or straight scraper) applies a controlled wet coating layer. The coated boards then pass through a low-temperature drying tunnel (≤60°C to prevent foam deformation), followed by cooling and stacking.
